Christmas Day 2011

Hi all
Hope you had a lovely Christmas! The postman came with lots of Crinkly packages for me the week before i got so excited!!My human said I was worse than a kid .Well why tell me Moses its a parcel for you !unless Im allowed to get excited?

Christmas day arrived like any other.The usual morning stuff but then the humans went out -hang on a minute !Apparently the human had to go help with dinner.Exscuse me but I might have liked to help with dinner Im great at dinner ,a master extrordinairre at dinners.I eat the stuff my brother wont like sardines and stuff!
After woeful neglect I was left for like Four Hours on Christmas Day no less!The humans returned .After being fed again i was finally allowed to open my presents .I jumped on the sofa and seeing mum had the camera I did the obligatory pose.

I got a bit carried away with posing for the camera so mum told me to "get on with it " really she can be so uncouth at times !
I was delighted to open my pressies including a reindeer a tug toy and
a squeaky pheasant toy that Tom (Labrador ) tried to claim on the grounds that he was the only gundog in the house (even though the only shoots he ever attended were clay pigeon!)but i pinched it right back cos te parcel had MY name on it Thank you!
Tom and Beethoven got their presents from mum and we all had treats so a better end than start to the day!

The Christmas Party!

Hi all!

Last night we had the Christmas Party at our Ringcraft Club.
Mum packed the bag with show collar and lead ,bowl, bottles of water and sausages and Poo bags .Whilst she was packing the other bag with party food I thougt I would add a little surprise of my own.
All packed and Ready ,my breeder hooted the horn and out we went .I was a bit faster than mum as she was weighed down with bags.I jumped in the back and made myself comfortable .Mum Aimme grumbled that she wasnt a bean bag so I moved and said Hifive to Ted my bro.
We got to the party and I found it was a Match night .So thats why i had to endure a bath Saturday and lots of brushing tonight!Mum paid for my class and gave food in and went to get my collar from the depths of the bag.

"Whats this?"she asked perplexed as she pulled out a Mcdonalds Smurf!I grinned and she said "Why did we need a smurf ,Moses ?" looking at me she laughed .I knew she would ,youve got to treat your human right ,make 'em laugh you get more out of them!
We went into our class graduate .As i did a Triangle i stopped at the corner to look at my mum Aimmee "Hi Mum !" I thought but she ignored me .So it was time to run up and down on the mat and i was ready to jump at the judge and give him a hug but ole 2 legs stopped before i could reach him.(Spoilsport!)Mum said i wasnt being the bestest boy but i was having fun -its her fault for telling me it was a party.
I wanted to socialise with the borzoi in front and the dog behind but mum was being a stick in the mud and said No they were working . It was quite a big class and due to me being very happy (she said i was naughty!)she was very pleased when i was placed 5th!
Then it was Teds turn in Open and he got a second and Mummy Aimee got a second in "Judges choice " so we all went home with a rosette !!
I had a lot of sausages as we all did and mum shared some of the food off her plate which means her training is improving (I often find she can be a bit food possessive ,growling and saying "Mine " when i go to share!)
It was a fun night -even though mum said i had perhaps more fun than i ought when i was supposed to be working but i know she doesnt mean it -you gotta love 'em !

Dog show at Woking

Well mum had a bad day saturday .Things seemed to go from wrong to worse .My best brushes had been left in my breeders car ,other problems arose and then after going to bed fireworks started up at 11pm as we were trying to get some sleep.(Im not bothered by fireworks after being by the rifle ranges whilst shooting was going and mum likes firework displays but even she thought back yard fireworks starting at 11 a bit of a mickey take. )
Sunday she started playing music in the morning this means an extreme mood either very happy or miserable .As mum doesnt do mornings i guessed it was the latter.I decided i would cheer her up at any cost !

The day started off foggy .the showground was having work done so the car park was shut off and we had to park in tennis courts.It was very good for noise habituation as i mentally ticked of one screaming child ,one pneumatic drill and kids skating in the skatepark next to our ring .
Mum sighed and said "I'm only doing it for ringcraft practice ."Great i thought I would soon put my plan into action."Operation Cheerup Mum " would be in force soon.
It came my turn to go into the ring .Mum collected her rin number and pinned it on .We ran round with the others as you do.When it came to my individual turn ,I stood nicely."up and down " said the judge .
So I took him literally I bounced up and down trying to catch the ring number pinned on my mums lapel.I thought it was hilarious.Mum told me to behave but she didnt realise the twinkle in her eye belied her true feelins!!
We then went for a walk and mum took some pics (Naturally!)she said she was pleased with the pic but wished my beard was dry!

We then went with Jacky and Grandma Caroline who took us to play with Jessie who I like very much!!

and then we waited in the car whilst mum went to see some real reindeer .Dont know why Santa doesnt use husky s to pull the sled but maybe theyd eat all the sweets ?
Mum was back to her cheerful self and i was quite frankly worn out by the time we got home !!

Discover Dogs at Earls court london

Hi
We went to a big place in London ,me and my bro Ted .It was full of poeple and dogs !My mum said it was called Discover Dogs and is a big exhibition where poeple can go and meet different breeds of dogs and ask owners and breed clubs about the pros and cons of owning that breed to help poeple to choose a breed that will suit them and their lifestyle.Lots of animal charities have stands too ,so they can raise awareness of what they do and how to volunteer ,adopt a pet ,raise funds or book speakers .lots of trade stands smelling wonderful .I thought as one had treats at nose level it was self service but as i went over mum used the "Leave it " command .Darn!!
Me and Ted were invited by our Rincraft club to do a demonstration on "Show dog training " . Mum was a bit nervous about this as some days i bounce but i behaved myself .

We had to walk around the ring to "Theres no business ,like show business!"and then it was like a cross between ringcraft and a show where our trainer Lyn, went over all the dogs individually whilst the commentator discussed with another lady about training presentation of the dog and handler .etc

Earlier in the day i did a "Trial session "on The Blue Cross stand.Later the assessor walked round with mum and me to see how i coped with food stands (!) other dogs ,poeple ,loud noises ,being brushed etc. Mum was pleased when they said I had passed !!Im now qualified to go into schools and youth groups to give talks (well mum does the talkie bit -i just get fussed!!)The talks are free and volunteers around the country visit groups to teach about safety around animals ,responsibility care and choosing a pet.Its all done in a fun way with games and things .(Mum says if anyone wants to book a talk to go onto The Blue Cross website and enquire !)

19th October Updates !!

Hi peeps ,
My owner says i should keep this blog up to date but life sort of ran away with us ,like a dog with a stolen roast dinner!(or is that just me?)
Anyway a fast update on months gone by with pics !

MARCH

Went to Crufts to show in the ring .Mum says this is the biggest dog show in the world .As she is prone to exaggeration I took this with a pinch of salt (and anything else i could lay my paws on!) Big panic before hand she had to have a suit!Thank goodness i was allowed to wear my normal fur coat (she managed to lose a button of her smart jacket before the day was over !!) Apart from jumping on the lap of a spectator sat ringside i wasnt too bad,my human said!
I got to see my "Dogmothers " from Kent ,Devon and Scotland !I had my pics taken with them although they didnt seem to appreciate the sardines i was given cause my Bro'Ted didnt want them and I dont believe in waste!

On March 17th I went to look for leprechauns with my mum Aimee .We didnt find any though ,but it was nice to be on a walk with my mum!!

In April we went to a couple of shows .In Wales I managed to get a 3rd in Graduate Dog .I quite like Wales its full of different sniffs!
I qualified for Crufts by getting a 2nd in Yearling dog at a beardie show so mum was pleased.

May -went to The Spring Frolic run by Southern Counties Bearded collie club.Mum entered me for The Primary Working Test ! She was nervous and said to me "I know you can do it -Im just bothered you migt choose not to!"
Oh ye of little faith !I passed .That woman needs more confidence !She says i have enough for both of us !

June -went miles with Ted in the car (with the humans of course!) It was a funny set up.Ted went and had an injection it made him all dopey !I went and had the injection and saw some puppies over the wall !Wanting to play i tried to jump it and my human said "Im not sure it worked on him!"The other humans laughed .I had to lie in a very undignified manner and have xray photos done .When they came in the post i was given whats called a Hip Score .Its something to do with how good your hips sit in the socket .Mine was 4:5 which is fine .

July my 2nd Birthday!-went to the park and met up with my best mate and my new girlfriend the dalmation .She doesnt know it yet,but she knocks the spots off the other bitches !

I was spoilt and was sent birthhday cards and pressies!!

August- we went to a Companion Show as part of an agricultural show in Chertsey.We had a go at the scurry run where a lot of low jumps are set inside some orange fence stuff .Mum let me off lead one end and run beside the fence with food .I run around the fence and cased after her .Her face seemed red and se grabbed my collar and walked to the other end again .She asked if she could go inside the fence this time .the man with the stopwatch said yes and i have to say for an asthmatic i thought she cleared the fences quite well.i jumped after her and we came back over them i ran out of the entrance and was very excited so excited that Mummy Jacky missed me .My human knew a trick however :( Salami she yelled and ran away from me .I LOVE salami so i ran after her .She did in all fairness give me the salami once shed grabbed my collar.
I didnt get anywhere in the pedigree classes but after putting my hair in a bow mum entered me for "Most Appealing eyes " .the judge looked and said very funny! and gave mea rosette that said Special !Of course i know im special ,but its nice to have it confirmed!!

September
Was dead chuffed to get a first in Special Beginner at our Match Night at Ringcraft .Ringcraft is where humans take us to learn how to run with us so we look our best and how to stand us nicely .Once a month there is a judge invited in and they judge us as if we were in the show ring.Its good practice for the humans !



October
1st
Went to Scotland ,visited an old flame of mine.However her owner said i was fickle because i fancied her daughter this time round !Her daughter had a puppy who was also fun to play with!!

before we got there though we stopped off at Gretna Green (the humans wanted to buy a loch Ness monster for the grandchildren!Humans are strange and we were nowhere near Loch Ness.)Lots of Japanese tourists took photos of me Ted and mummy Aimee .Eventually my human said shed found a good place to take pics but then the exhibition manager asked if he could take our pic too !!

We did the show on Saturday we'd travelled up on Friday and stayed in a Travel Lodge.
Our cool brother Oskar met up with us and went into the ring for the first time in one of the classes(hope he has another go !) Hes a real Super star!

My brother Ted came 1st and i came 2nd so our mums were very pleased with us.Me and Ted got to see our Dogmother Sue and have hugs (no sardines this time!!)and then i went to see some higland cattle!

Sunday 2nd
Well we came back from Scotland last night I was made to rest this morning and mum had to go out .I was given a quick walk and groomed again and we set off to a church for The Pet Blessing service !

Saturday 8th
Mum went in for another companion show in Shepperton this time .I came Special(does that mean Im now doubly special?) in the pedigree class (AV Working Pastoral or Utility),came 5th in "Best Mover " under Dr Roger Mugford (mum was surprised i got anywhere as whilst she was giving the steaward her entry ticket I saw the table.Im conditioned to put my front feet on tables to be lifted by the back feet up to be groomed .As i put my front feet up i realised the man had left a half eaten burger up there.Well you know how i feel about wasting food .Sadly my human does too and she swiftly yanked me away .Dr Mugford gave her a "Look" ,I think it was his burger.
Me and my bro Ted went in the ring with Jacky our breeder and came 3rd!!

Monday 10th
Then there was another match night at the club.....

Mum was really pleased with me I won my graduate class and went on to win the Best in Match !Mum was very excited and the judge said she loved me !Aww!!Mum said it was obviously my birthday pressie to her!!

Sunday 16th

Went to a beardie show I came 4th in my breed class but mum had decided to "have a go" at the "Pre -beginners class".It had seemed like a good idea when she entered a month or so ago but lots of things had prevented her from doing as much training as she would have liked.So now she was petrified ! Grandma Caroline encouraged her and said its just to see what its like. She also gave us a quick lesson and sent us on our way.
The steward told mum to do heelwork on lead and called out directions .Mum was rather brisk i thought as i kept up with her (grandma laughed that they'd need speed cameras in the ring!Mum replied she was striding out to look confident although she did slip on the corner but managed not to fall over).The steward called out "Exercise finished " mum looked a bit resigned and headed toward the exit but was stopped by the steward who told her where to stand for the Next Exercise (mum looked a bit relieved I think she thought we were being chucked out!)"Heel Free " called the steward .With some trepidation mum took the lead off.I walked ok and next to her and then that exercise was over.
Recall.Mum said to SIT and WAIT.The steward asked "Ready?" mum grabbed my collar and set me back up.Grandma was laughing as she realised -we play a game over the park Ready ,steady Go and we all race away so i thought the steward was playing!!
Mum turned to face me but i was up .she should apparently ,have called me and done the finish but she took me back and asked if we could do it again but the judge said NO!Ah well you live and learn and we asked to be exscused the stays at lunch time .Mum was tired out (wonder why?) so we just had treats and dinner and left it at that this time!Sometimes its about giving things a try and not just about competing!!Obviously i could do better with a different handler but would i have as many laughs?Would every body else ?Life is always fun I m not sure i want to change now (unless of course a new owner had smellier treats and a bitch in the house i might reconsider....!!)

Well thats all for now ,cant believe this year is going so fast !Will try to keep up to date as i never told you about our trip to the seaside or other things never mind!

Mum decided to walk me along the tow path for a change of scenery.

We walked past Ham House which is another big house like Osterley that im not allowed in.

I went to investigate a bridge that mum said is similiar to one she used to play "Poo sticks with the children" now if id suggested that she d have wrinkled her nose in disgust but she explained it was a game invented by a bear called Winnie the Pooh .anyway the bridge was clean and as i came back to mum she tried to take a picture and missed."Moses ,youll have to do it again ,I missed that one .So I obliged and after shed got some pics she said "Anyone would think you knew what Id said !!"

On the way back i joined some army cadets on a hike.Mum panicked cos i got in the middle of them and she couldnt see me amongst all the camouflaged trousers.Se worried i might be whisked off and never seen again !!She can be daft sometimes and i soon emerged when theyd all trooped through!!

I played swamp monsters ;

several passers by made comments about "someone needing a bath"
the classic was "How do you get im clean again?" "Shampoo and water !" said mum wryly.One couple passed by and the lady said "I bet you have to bath him when you get home!" her husband replied "Oh leave him alone!hes enjoying himself!" I liked that man!!!!

We got back to te club where one brave man stroked me whilst noises of admiration or was it horror were made by other club members .Daddy Ivor bought me a burger.
Herself started to pull it apart into smaller pieces to cool down .A man said "Spoilt comes to mind!" (but he didnt say it in a mean way though)
herself said "I know from experience if you give a dog a burger and its too hot they throw it up!So i'm making sure its cooled and in bite size pieces he gets to enjoy it for longer ." She was doing well i think, 'til the last bit.

Monday
We went to dog training Good citizen Silver!Wow there was 2 labradors my favourite dogs after beardies !there was a girl spaniel and other dogs i was very excited !!
Mum asked one of the trainers if she could hold me whilst she went to the loo."Hes calmed down a lot!" mummy Dawn said
When she got back i was being used to demonstrate heelwork."Thougt you said hed calmed down!!Said Trainer "A" "Hes been jumping up at me!" "Youre honoured then ! said mummy Dawn he only does that now to his "Special Poeple!" love that about my mum -"Gift of the gab !" Its true though i tend to save my beardie hugs for thos who I like and know.
Mum had to practice the "down -stay!" I went Down to order and bounced back up again !Mum says Im work in progress!!

Tues and wednesday

New brushes came through mum is pleased.So now my day consists of walk with some training on the way,kerbside sits she s being more pedantic about -no more "Leggit" cos the lights turned green .Some heelwork.We go home get groomed .practise some ringcraft stands !Its all go here!

Sunday
Didnt get to go to the club as mummy Dawn had to take some pictures of poeple shooting .When she came home -finally(!!)I pinned her to the door putting my paw on her hair and gave her big slobbery kisses .She got away and said Thank you and went and washed her face with the soap .She used the soap with bits in it (exfoliating) and it looked like a red tomato .She didnt notice til bedtime and when she glanced in the mirror she thought she had scarlet fever again -it was soo funny !(She didnt think so til she realised it was just that soap!!)

Monday 31st

Training again tonight we did recall,come away from distractions (Toys on the floor this week -last week it was the other dogs)heelwork and getting in and out the car.Ive only really been in mummy Jacky and Daddy Ivors cars oh and Grandma Carolines but they are all MPVs .I found a standard car very strange and wanted to get out quick but every time I went to move- down went the boot.This happened several times and I learnt to sit away from the boot and wait .We also did a lead walk to prove we were under control.Mum had to explain that we couldnt keep my head to one side it had to face forward for showing .That was okayed .

Tuesday 1st feb 2011

Went to the club with Ted,Molly and Barney .

began to wonder if Molly wasnt leading me on a merry dance!!

Fotunately i'm a merry sort of fellow so I wasnt worried!!

We had ringcarft tonight,I was so pleased i wanted to bounce around but mum said no -Behave! It was good to be back!

Wednesaday
Going to Auntie Sarahs to be groomed tomorrow -wiil let yiou know how i got on ,sunday!!

Hi
been a mixed week as mum has been unwell on and off which makes things a bit boring.

Still got to go to the Ranges with my brother Ted and his housemate Barney.We had lots of fun as you can see:

we played "Leap dog" !

and i played "splash 'ems!

Mummy Dawn was a bit cross cause I was supposed to be getting in the car at the time.

But all in all i had fun!!

Thursday

Mum was feeling queasy and had a headache ."You'll have to go as you are ." she said sadly.I dont feel up to running a brush over you."Wahay sounds good to me mum !"I thought .Actually I dont mind being brushed but its not very cool to admit it is it?

We went to the car and Ted was there we gave each other high 5s and settled down for the ride .Or rather he lied down and I sat up watching the outside world -its all so exciting how can Ted bear to miss a moment?Mum says its because Ted is a good boy and Im just a nosy wotsit!!

We arrived at Auntie Sarahs house and we went in the garden .Mum insisted on taking some BEFORE pics as she called them.Before what i wondered?

but Id seen GIRLS !!Far more exciting than having your picture taken!!

Anyway mum and mummy Jacky went in with Auntie Sarah and mummy Dawn asked questions about problem areas and was given a quick demo .Mum and mummy Jacky then left and Auntie Sarah got to work.I had a lovely bath and groooming session -this is the life and when herself came to get me I was having great fun !Auntie Sarah said told mum Id been watching Midsomer Murders on the TV when the dogs were barking.Thats cos i was looking out for my heroes Tully and Sandy who often star in them!!(they are beardies too)

I looked out of the window to see thhat dog they call "Reflection" stupid name if you ask me ,but he does look fun .I think he's shy cos he looks in windows but when you get outside hes gone!Ted sees him too so its not my imagination!!
Mum said I looked even more gorgeous !
and the best bit of all.....

I love Auntie Sarah -specially when she has treats!!!

Got home and my housemates came to the door .Beethoven took one sniff and walked off.Tom took me to one side and said "Moses mate,you really need to go and roll in fox poo or something ,you really are a bit whiffy."
Theyre just jealous that they didnt get to see girls .I went under the table and went to sleep.

Sunday am
Got to go to the rifle club today.Mum decided not to go over the common but to walk along the towpath.Boy was she going to regret that !!Ill tell you more about my adventure next week!!
